Overview

"Deepest Cuts" is an ambitious 70-day design sprint and conceptual brand identity centered on the intersection of typography and object design. The project involved creating a unique vinyl record design (groove and label) every day for 70 consecutive days, resulting in a high-volume series of framed lyric posters.

Insight

By stripping away a song’s melody and existing visual history, I focused purely on the literal interpretation of language. The goal was to visualize lyrics as if seeing the words for the first time, translating raw text into tangible art without the bias of the music's genre or mood.

Challenges

The primary challenge was maintaining daily creative momentum over 10 weeks while ensuring technical precision in the rendering of complex vinyl grooves and labels. I had to bridge the gap between individual, experimental lyric pieces and a unified "Deepest Cuts" brand identity that felt cohesive yet rebellious.

My Solution

I developed a "punk-inspired" brand ecosystem for Deepest Cuts, utilizing a high-contrast pink palette and a fluid, merging typographic logo. To drive engagement, I integrated a community model where "Deep Cutters" (contributors) submitted lyrics, turning a solo design challenge into a collaborative, personalized retail concept.

Takeaway

This project was an exercise in extreme discipline and rapid iteration, sharpening my ability to build a robust brand identity from a niche experiment. It demonstrated my capacity for high-volume production and my ability to turn a conceptual design exercise into a scalable, market-ready business model.
